VP Biden in Latin America

Vice President Promotes Trade

VP Joseph Biden visits Colombia, Trinidad and Tobago, and Brazil. Purpose of the trip is to promote trade. Attached article compares US trade ties with region and compares them with China, which is investing in and importing extensively from Latin America. US trade with region is rising and could accelerate if other countries, such as Brazil, removed barriers to commerce. The Brazilian economy is especially inviting for American investors, as is the US economy for Brazilian capital. This is a point which VP Biden raises. The VP’s travels anticipate a number of high level visits by Latin American leaders to Washington later this year.
