Nicaragua One Step Closer to Approving Chinese Built Canal

The long sought effort to build a canal in Nicaragua has new life. Lawmakers approved a proposal to have a Hong Kong company build a $40 billion waterway of 180 miles length. Will it be built? Experts raise a number of reasons that it won’t be. These include engineering, environmental, and economic challenges that have to be overcome.   The future of the Panama Canal seems, therefore, to be in good shape.
