Colombia Eradicates River Blindness

Colombia “became a global role model this week when the World Health Organization certified it as the first country to eliminate onchocerciasis — the second-leading infectious cause of blindness.” This is an impressive achievement that won the praise of former President Jimmy Carter, and may help other Latin American nations.
