Lori Zett: Ms Zett is an Adjunct Professor at Temple University. She has a B.Sc. from Temple University and a Masters degree from Columbia University School of International and Public Affairs. She lived in Venezuela from 1968 to 1978 and from 1988 to 1990. In 2005, she returned to Venezuela at the invitation of Guillermo Garcia Ponce, Hugo Chavez’ Advisor, under a program designed to highlight the achievements of the Bolivarian Revolution. Her areas of interest are International Labor Studies, Immigration and Venezuela.
Magaly Sanchez, Ph.D.: Dr. Sanchez is a Senior Researcher and Visiting Scholar at Princeton University. A native of Venezuela, Dr. Sanchez graduated from Universidad Central de Venezuela with a B.A. in Sociology and has a Ph.D. in Sociology from the University of Paris. She has been a visiting professor and researcher at Temple University and at the University of Pennsylvania, as well as other Universities in Spain and France. Her areas of research include International Migration of HSE Venezuelans to the U.S., Latino and American Identities, Urban Social Problems in the “barrios” of Latin America, among others.
Orlando Perez, Ph.D.: Dr Perez is the Associate Dean of the School of Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences at Millersville University. He has a B.Sc. degree from Florida International University and a Masters and Ph.D. in Political Science from the University of Pittsburgh. He has worked on democratization, civil-military relations, and anti-corruption issues for the United States Agency for International Development and the United Nations Development Program. His research on the transformation of civil-military relations in post-authoritarian Central America was supported by a grant from the United States Institute for Peace. Dr. Perez has carried out field research throughout Latin America, including Venezuela. His teaching and research interests include US-Latin American relations, civil-military relations, and empirical democratic theory.
Moderating the program is Abelardo Lechter, Chairman of the Board of the Pan American Association of Philadelphia. He was born and raised in Colombia and is a businessman with extensive experience in Latin America. He holds B.C.E., M. Sc. and Ph.D. degrees from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute.
