Explaining Brazil

Will Massive Protests Change Brazil?

Four distinguished experts analyze the causes and consequences of the protests. They opine that the government has an opportunity to address the grievances of the protestors, who are mostly middle class people. The causes of the discontent are shoddy public services (such as poor urban mobility, corruption, and government unresponsiveness to these. All of this comes into prominence because of the world attention focused on Brazil by the upcoming soccer championship and the Olympics. Thus, the demonstrations will continue and make life difficult for the administration of President Dilma Rousseff.
