The Washington Diplomat publishes article on how Ambassador Nathalie Cely performs her job in the throes of the strained relations between the United States and Ecuador. Ambassador Cely is a very competent professional, but it’s increasingly difficult to manage the bilateral agenda given the actions by the Quito government on the Snowden case, in addition to previous decisions by the Correa government with respect to the United States. The article gives a good insight into the demands of public and private diplomacy, and how contradictions have to be reconciled.
