Monsignor Langlois Elevated

Haitian Cardinal

Pope Francis nominates Chibly Langlois for red hat.  What is remarkable about the first Haitian cardinal to be is his youth and that he is not yet a bishop, being a mere monsignor. This is an honor for Haiti, which apparently has a special place in the heart of Pope Francis. The choice fits the Pope’s emphasis on the Church of the poor.
