World Court Decision

Peru-Chile Waters

The World Court rendered a judgment on competing Chilean Peruvian claims over territorial waters. Described as Solomonic, the ruling gives both parties some of the disputed Pacific waters. Those waters are rich in highly sought anchovies, which sustain robust fishing operations in both countries. Chile and Peru announced before the verdict that they would abide by the Court’s decision.
