Still the favored destination for immigrants

Immigration chart

The Pew Research Hispanic Center closely tracks the Hispanic community in the US. One of its latest reports makes this country by far the favored destination for immigrants. 40 million of us are foreign born. The figure includes 11 million “unauthorized” immigrants. Russia, surprisingly, is a distant second for immigrants. For those coming here, Latin Americans still dominate, followed by Asians. Contrast these figures with the 55 million Hispanics living here, the majority of whom have been here for generations. The information contained in the report should be useful for the debate on what to do about illegal immigration.
