Sara Manzano-Diaz, has been appointed by President Obama as the new Regional Administrator for the Mid-Atlantic Region of the U.S. General Services Administration. She will manage over 1000 employees and oversee the federal government’s real estate portfolio, procurement of goods and services, and information technology for the six states in the Region.
Previously she was the Director of the Womens’s Bureau at the U.S. Department of Labor, wher she focused on domestic and international policies affecting women in the workforce. Ms. Manzano-Diaz has had a distinguished career in government service in Pennsylvania, New York and the Federal Government. She was Deputy Secretary of State in the Rendell Administration, Assistant Attorney General in New York and served in various capacities at the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development, including as Deputy General Counsel for Civil Rights and Litigation.
A native of Puerto Rico, Ms. Manzano-Diaz earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Public Relations from Boston University and a Juris Doctor degree from Rutgers University School of Law. She is the wife of Judge Nelson Diaz and a long term friend and member of the Pan American Association.
